Hazelnuts - Slightly Salted
Hazelnuts have long been a staple in European confections and baked goods, and are also famous for being a important ingredient in a widely used sweet chocolate spread. Our hazelnuts are imported from Oregon and are slightly salted and roasted right in our stores by our chefs. Hazelnuts are high in folate, an important B-vitamin for pregnant women. They are also an excellent source of protein, carbohydrate, vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants. There is also research that proves hazelnuts contain 20 times more antioxidants than vitamin C and 50 times more than vitamin E!
- Hazelnuts are also known as filberts, and likely named after French saint St. Philbert. In the US, they are also known as cobs, hazels, cobnuts, acorns, beechnuts and butternuts.
